Guru Pradosha Pooja is a sacred ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva and is observed when Pradosham (the 13th day of the lunar fortnight) falls on a Thursday (Guruvara in Sanskrit). Rituals of Guru Pradosha Pooja
1. Purification: Begin the day with a holy bath and wear clean, traditional clothes.
2. Altar Setup: Place a Shivlingam or an idol of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati and Nandi.
3. Lighting the Lamp: Light a ghee lamp and offer fresh flowers.
4. Abhishekam: Perform an abhishekam to the Shivlingam using water, milk, honey, curd, and ghee.
5. Offerings: Offer Bilva leaves, fruits, and sandalwood paste to Lord Shiva.
6. Mantra Chanting: Chant powerful Shiva mantras like:
- Om Namah Shivaya
- Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra
7. Guru Mantra: To receive the blessings of Guru Brihaspati, chant:
> "Om Brihaspataye Namah"
8. Prayers: Pray for wisdom, spiritual growth, and the removal of obstacles.
9. Aarti and Prasad: Conclude with Shiva Aarti and distribute prasad.
